Summer Bay Resort - what can I say? Like million others out there, I'm severely burnt and was scammed from this so called vacation package bought from Summer Bay. Someone got to do something about this. Government agency, please do review their business practice, they do not tell you everything when they try hard to sell to you. Next thing you know, you end up burning your pocket for it. I now just gave up on my initial purchase and rather not go to their resort than going there and being scam once more on their Timeshare sales tactic. I'm extremely disappointed with Summer Bay. Please think twice before you buy anything from them.

I agree w/ you Ba D Tran, I honestly don't know how they can still operate though. Their business practice is unethical and they mislead you into thinking that you're getting a deal of a lifetime. It turns out to be a big nightmare of a lifetime.

I purchased their package and after realizing there is numerous ridiculous hidden fees I have an endless debate with them. It took it to the BBB and BBB cannot help me resolved it. Their reply was so pathetic it made me sick. My complaint was that their Terms and Conditions do not truly reflect the true nature, hidden fees that are mandatory to paid in order for you to take your vacation was definitely not mentioned. They came back and copy me the Terms & Conditions as their reply. What a joke!!!

They are against the law in their selling practice as it is misleading, but ofcourse they wouldn't tape that. I really hope I have a tape of what the told me initially and what they told me now to prove my point. Anyways, you should also complain to the Florida Department of Agriculture - website is: 800helpfla.com. Hope this help and hope that you have a few minutes to bring your concern to them, because that is the only way we can help other victims from falling into the same trap.

I have never in my life search a complaint on any company on a website and found soooooooooooo many results. If we all keep silent, it only benefit Summer Bay and let more people be victims. Please do raise your voice.

Summer Bay Resort is the worst business in Central Florida and giving the area a really bad name for tourist. I was scammed out and ended up in a heated confrontation with the sales manager over the whole thing when I refused to purchase a RCI timeshare.

It was all started when I was offered a 4d/3n stays at the Summer Bay Resort if I attend the 90 min timeshare sales. At the reservation time; I was charged for reservation fee and informed that I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express, NOT the Summer Bay Resort like I was offered. If I want to upgrade to a resort; I have to pay for that. I ended up paying for the upgrade since I found out when I have my family and kids in Florida already and I have determined not to stay at the Holiday Inn Express. I was offerred the option to purchase park hopper tickets at $100 per. Turns out that it was not a park hopper ticket, rather a Disney plus One ticket.

The 90 min timeshare sales that I have agreed to turned into 2.5 hours long. Summer Bay Resort has an organized way to structure the sales that you are caught in the middle and has no way to back out. At the end; I was handed a pink slip to pick up my tickets and get in a long line with one customer service rep handling 50 plus people. The tickets turn out to have a value of $140 instead of the park hopper tickets, which has a value of $300. O

Overall, I found that Summer Bay Resort is a big scam; I have filed a complaint at the Florida BBB and hoping to hear some kind of an investigation in regards to the business practice at Summer Bay Resort. We ended up in a bad confrontation when I told the sale manager that I am not interested in their product and would like to buy Disney Timeshare instead. Things turns ugly. Not sure how the Florida Better Business Bureau allows such company to operate in such a worldwide famous tourist attraction center???

That was quite interesting...no hidden fees? I was told by them that I had to pay a ridiculous transportation fee (not mentioned in the Terms and Conditions), hotel taxes, booking fee (also not mentioned in the Terms & Conditions). When I said I am capable of taking my own transportation and do not want to take their offer. Guess what the answer was? "Ms. You cannot go on the vacation if you do not pay those fee" - by forcing people to pay for hidden fees is illegal (I hope they know that). I hope that everyone here think twice before buying their vacation package.

The beauty is? good luck trying to get a decent hotel. I don't intend on using this vacation package at all after realizing how unethical they are. Who knows what else is there waiting for me when I go on the vacation with them.

The scary thing is? it appears that they are able to get away with not living up to their "written" Terms & Conditions. When you file a complaint, all they do is write you back a very generic email that they probably use to give every customers who complaints (by the way - when I say generic - I mean the email will not address anything that "you" are complaining about).

I urge you to do your homework before getting involve in with Summer Bay in anyway. Try to google on Summer Bay scam or Summer Bay complaints, you'll be surprise.

I made a huge mistake for not doing my homework and now paying for it. I consider it a very expensive lesson and do not hope this to happen to anyone else. It is quite frustrating if you have your hard earned $ robbed from you. That's how I felt because I was being very careful when I first purchase their package (carefully reading terms & conditions) and yet still get caught. Because it appears that they can swayed away from their contract however way they wish.

I just got back from a trip that was completely paid for by Summer Bay. I spent 3 nights in Orlando. I loved the resort and we spent hours playing at the pools, lake, and water play park. We spent 2 nights in Daytona and 2 nights in Gatlinburg, TN. I had wonderful experiences with all of them. No hidden fees or bad experiences. I got free Disney tickets and Daytona USA passes. We had a wonderful time. We even enjoyed our salesmen at the presentations. Nazir in Orlando, who is from Brazil and loves America!! and Todd in Gatlinburg. We call him Cecil the hairdresser! (where we actually purchased a trial membership. We will probably turn it into a full vacation ownership in the next few months.) Wonderful experiences all around. Great hotels. Thanks a lot Summer Bay!

I brought a vacation package which included the 4 days and 3 nights in Orlando. I then brought owneship, but then cancelled the contract within the time frame, now Summer Bay is charging me for the rooms!!!! I am paying double!!! FRAUD, do not buy or believe them.

has anyone actually gone on one of these trips or did you just have a bad time

I am glad that by posting our worse experience can help someone in falling into the same trap. Regardless of that they do, do not fall into their trap. What is being offered is like heaven but once you give them your card number, you're in a deep hole. You will not be able to use your vacation package, even if you can, you are not getting accomodation in the resort they promised. AND to top it off, you end up paying tons of extra charges that were not mentioned in the Terms & Conditions. Apparently they thought that was legal to do so. When I questioned them, I got an answer saying that Terms & Conditions are generic...okie!!! So be aware, be very careful with such company. They don't even live up with their Terms & Conditions, how can you trust such a business?

I have had enough with Summer Bay and agreed with most of you on here as to why they are even allow to operate with the obvious manipulative sales tactics that are designed only to defraud people. What I am more surpise about is how they still manage to have a satisfying rating with the Better Business Bureau. It does not take long to file a complaint, if we all raise our voice to this crap business practice, perhaps we can help others from being a victim. Please file your complaint to the BBB if you're disatisfied. If you do not have the time to do so, I'm more than happy to help you out. Please contact me at
