We booked a week at Summer Bay Resort by Exploria with our RCI points since we own several timeshares. Before our arrival, a concierge called us to offer an extra night in the 2 bedroom that we had reserved if we just gave our opinion on the resort.

I said sure and we set up the time to give our "opinion." First mistake... believing they had a concierge! We showed up on time and expected to give our opinion, since we really were enjoying the resort. My husband and I both agreed to get up and leave if it was a sales presentation.

Here's where the second lie began. I told the saleswoman we were only interested in hotel stays, not time share, since we already were owners with plenty of timeshare weeks and she assured me they had a wonderful program which I could book hotel stays with points if I bought. She showed me the Exploria Marketplace (which is basically Expedia) and told us that we could probably get 12-15 hotel stays if we bought a 2 bedroom. So, we handed over our credit card for over $10,000 since we stay in hotels a lot!

They gave you an i-pad so you could book right from there so you didn't have to have a computer. I had buyer's remorse and went back the next day, with the i-pad, to get out of the contract since I was hesitant about the amount of hotel stays we would get. Once again, we were assured that we could book 12-15 hotels, so we relented. Turns out, you can't access your account until after the 10 waiting period to cancel is over.

Again, we believed what we were told. SO, as we were running away from Irma and needed hotels, I called to turn in my 239 "EXPOS" into hotel rooms, realizing that I had to pay $75 for this service. The lady at the call center said, "You don't want to do that. Nobody turns in the Expos into hotel rooms, since its better just to pay for them." Since we were in a hurry, I paid for two hotels.

When I finally had time to look at the exchange and called again to get hotels on the way back to Florida, I discovered that my "points" are only worth 2 NIGHTS in a nice hotel, like a Hilton. Needless to say, we are FURIOUS about being lied to, so I contacted the manager. Again, they will stick together and continue to lie about what they said.

Also, you have to pay the yearly "maintenance fee" on top of it. So long story short, if you want to pay $10,500 for two nights in a hotel and pay over $400 yearly, this is the place you want to spend your hard earned money!
